About MacroBank

What is MacroBank?

MacroBank is a macro tracking app for iPhone that works by the week instead of resetting every day. You get a weekly budget for protein, carbs and fat, and you balance it across the days however you like. No calorie counting.

How is weekly macro tracking different from daily tracking?

A daily tracker gives you a target that resets at midnight, so a big dinner shows up as a red number and yesterday's light day doesn't count for anything. MacroBank sizes your protein, carb and fat targets for seven days and shows what's left for the week. A heavier day simply leaves a little less for the days after it, and a lighter day leaves more.

Who is MacroBank for, and who is it not for?

For people who want to hit protein, carb and fat targets without eating the same thing every day, who eat more on weekends, or who quit a daily tracker because one heavy day felt like failure. Not for people who want calories front and center, or a coach that changes their targets from their weigh-ins. MacroBank calculates targets from your inputs and never learns from your scale.

The week

Why does the week start on Wednesday?

So the weekend lands in the middle of the week instead of at the end. Friday, Saturday and Sunday have weekdays on both sides, which makes them easy to balance out. Your week runs Wednesday to Tuesday.

What happens if I miss a few days?

Your week starts on the first day you log. Miss Wednesday and it rolls to Thursday, and so on. Back from a trip on Monday? Your week is Monday to Tuesday, with targets sized for two days.

Can I still hit exact numbers every day?

Yes. The daily average is whatever is left in your week split evenly across the days left. Hit it every day and you land exactly on target. Miss it once and the average simply adjusts.

Does a weekly budget mean I can eat nothing on Monday and everything on Sunday?

You could, but the app is built to steer you away from that. The daily average shows you what an even split of the rest of your week looks like, and green pills mark days within a small range of it. The idea is that a heavy Saturday and a light Tuesday cancel out, not that the whole week is one meal.

Logging food

How do I log food?

Four ways: scan a barcode, search the food database (USDA data plus your own foods and saved meals), type the macros in manually, or snap a photo of your plate and let the AI estimate it. Every estimate can be corrected before you log it, and any meal can be saved and re-logged in one tap.

How accurate is photo logging?

It is an estimate, not a lab measurement. The AI identifies the dish and estimates the portion, and you can correct the name, weight and macros before logging, or add a note like 'extra dressing on the side' to refine it. For packaged food, the barcode scanner is more precise.

Targets

Does MacroBank count calories?

No. You track protein, carbs and fat. Calories are built into how the targets are calculated, but you never see a running calorie total and you never set a calorie goal.

How does MacroBank set my macro targets?

You can enter targets you already know, or let MacroBank calculate them from seven inputs: age, gender, height, weight, goal, training days and daily steps. Protein scales with how often you train. The method is documented inside the app under The Science, which cites 22 published studies and clinical guidelines.

Does MacroBank adjust my targets based on my weight?

No. Your targets come from your inputs, not from your scale. You can track your weight in the app, and when your goal or your body changes you update your inputs and the targets recalculate. There is no algorithm quietly changing your numbers week to week.

Compared with other apps

Is MacroBank a good alternative to MyFitnessPal?

If what bothers you about MyFitnessPal is the daily calorie goal, yes. MacroBank replaces the daily reset with a weekly budget for protein, carbs and fat, shows no calorie total, and includes barcode and photo logging without a Premium tier. If you rely on MyFitnessPal's very large restaurant database, its free tier, or need Android today, MyFitnessPal is still the better fit. There is a side-by-side comparison at macrobank.app/compare/myfitnesspal.

Is MacroBank a good alternative to MacroFactor?

They think in weeks differently. MacroFactor is an adaptive coach that recalculates your targets from your weigh-ins and logs. MacroBank is a weekly budget you control: targets come from your inputs, never from your scale, and balancing across days is automatic rather than a setting. Pick MacroFactor if you want the algorithm and calories front and center. Pick MacroBank if you want three numbers and no daily target to edit. There is a side-by-side comparison at macrobank.app/compare/macrofactor.

What is the best macro tracking app for flexible dieting?

Flexible dieting means hitting your protein, carb and fat targets over time without eating identical meals every day. Most trackers still grade each day on its own. MacroBank is built for the flexible approach: your targets are sized for seven days, a heavier day leaves a little less for the days after it, and the week is what has to land on target.

Privacy

Does MacroBank sell my data?

No. MacroBank does not sell your data, share your health data with advertisers, or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Privacy Policy at macrobank.app/privacy has the full details.
